Hear from Tuvia about Enrique’s Mentorship
"I started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu my freshman year through the encouragement of my brother, who wanted me to compete in wrestling like he did in high school, but my past school did not offer a wrestling program. I continued training BJJ, and I switched schools sophomore year. My new school offered a wrestling program, but it wasn’t a very strong one. Being the only wrestler on the team, I sought advice and mentorship. After asking around at the gym, I was directed to Enrique, who was eager to help me achieve my wrestling goals.
That was nearly 2 years ago. To this day, he has been committed to coaching me into a better wrestler. Enrique is more than a wrestling coach, he’s a mentor who pushes me past my limits and guides me where my school’s wrestling team falls short.”
Hear from Enrique about Tuvia
“I met Tuvia when I first moved to Atlanta in the fall of 2022. I was training in No-Gi BJJ at American Top Team Atlanta, and he was just starting his grappling journey. He learned that I was a wrestler and let me know that he was joining his high school wrestling team his sophomore year.
After practices at ATT Atlanta, Tuvia would consistently ask me to teach him techniques and was determined to improve. I coached wrestling for four years while President and Vice President of the Longhorn Wrestling Team. At the time I met Tuvia, I was excited to focus on my own grappling career and not have the pressure of coaching while competing on my mind. Tuvia was persistent though and wanted to get better. I saw in him a kid who loved the sport of wrestling and wanted mentorship to get him to where I wanted to be. After No-Gi BJJ practices, I would coach him in wrestling.
I learned that Tuvia was the only wrestler on his team during his junior year and was going to different high schools, clubs, and mixed martial arts gyms to find wrestling training. When he told me this, I truly thought of what the sport of wrestling gave to me. Without wrestling, I would not have had amazing memories with my best friends in high school. Without wrestling, I would not have learned how to lead through my time as President of the Longhorn Wrestling team. Without wrestling, I would not have earned the corporate opportunities that I had and currently have. Thus, I bought in entirely to being Tuvia’s wrestling coach because a kid who is willing to make immense sacrifices just to have the opportunity to compete in high school deserves to have someone in his corner supporting him.
As of August 2025, I am Tuvia’s wrestling coach for his senior year of high school. I am proud of the progress that he has made and am excited to see him make a run at the Georgia State Wrestling Tournament this year.“
